Description
Triptorelin is a synthetic peptide analog of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH). It is a decapeptide with the sequence Gly-His-Trp-Ser-Tyr-Gly-Leu-Arg-Pro-Gly-NH2. In the pituitary, GnRH stimulates the secretion of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH). LH and FSH are necessary for normal reproductive function in both females and males. Triptorelin is widely used in scientific research for the study of reproductive hormones.
Triptorelin is a GnRH agonist and is used to treat hormone-responsive cancers such as prostate cancer and breasts cancer. Triptorelin slows the growth of cancer cells or promotes the death of cancer cells by reducing the levels of testosterone and estrogen in men and women.
