Description
Oxytocin plays a vital role in human development, as well as in human reproduction, social bonding, and in the overall maintenance of health (including anxiety, stress, depression and cardiovascular health). Oxytocin is believed to regulate many other biological functions, including orgasm, milk and urine production, endocrine regulation and the immune system.
It has also been known to be synthesized by hypothalamic and pituitary oxytocin neurons and to be present in human cerebrospinal fluid (CSF).
